Updated SIT21 Training Package

All applicants will now be assessed under the new SIT21 training package. Successful Pathway 1 applicants will be awarded the new SIT21 AQF qualification relevant to their occupation.

Currently, the Skills Assessment Application process takes approximately 12-16 weeks from provision of all required 'decision-ready' documentary evidence. Due to the significant increase of Skills Assessment enquiries and applications we are receiving, the current turnaround time for general email enquiries is approximately 3-5 business days, and 15-20 working days for pre-assessment documentation reviews.

 

About William Angliss Institute and Skills Assessment Services

William Angliss Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), as appointed and authorised Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) to assess and conduct Skills Assessments for both the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Skills Assessment Program and Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP)The Skills Assessment determines if you have the skills and experience necessary to work in Australia at the trade level for your occupation.

The TSS Skills Assessment Program pathway is for candidates applying for a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa who work in a nominated occupation and who hold a passport from a nominated country or Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The OSAP Program pathway is for candidates applying for a Skilled Migration visa (excluding 485 and TSS visas) to work in a nominated occupation. Applicants who are not required by the Department of Home Affairs to attain a Skills Assessment as part of their visa conditions, but wish to do so, may opt to apply under the OSAP pathway. Applicants do not need to be offshore to apply for the OSAP pathway.

How to Apply

Submit high-resolution colour scans of all your original documentary evidence via WeTransfer (free version) to skills.assessment@angliss.edu.au for your Pre-assessment and Eligibility Check. You should provide a detailed CV, letters of employment, payslips, workplace menus, education qualifications, and your passport. Please refer to the Document Checklist for the full list of documents required to commence your Pre-Assessment.

Once we have reviewed your Pre-Assessment documentation, we will provide you with your Pre-Assessment outcome via email with further instructions on how to proceed with your Skills Assessment application.

 

Am I Eligible to Apply for Skills Assessment?

To apply for Skills Assessment with William Angliss Institute, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Have current culinary experience, skills and knowledge in Western cuisine.
  • Be employed in your nominated occupation in a full-time paid capacity for a minimum of 12 months within the past 3 years prior to lodging your application.
  • Have original and verifiable documentary evidence for current and all previous education, training and employment completed (i.e. employment letters, employment contracts, payslips, income statements, tax returns, award certificates and transcripts, etc)
  • To apply for Skills Assessment as a COOK, PASTRYCOOK, or BAKER:
    • If you have undertaken formal culinary training, you must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant full-time paid work experience.
    • If you have not undertaken any formal culinary training, you will need a minimum of 5 years of relevant full-time paid work experience.
  • To apply for Skills Assessment as a CHEF or PASTRY CHEF:
    • You must be currently operating as a Head Chef or Sous Chef with kitchen management responsibilities for a minimum of 12 months in a paid full-time capacity. There should also be evidence of your cumulative work experience (minimum 5 years full-time if you do not have relevant formal culinary training, or 3 years if you do), progressing from being a qualified Cook/Commis Chef to Chef de Partie to Sous/Head Chef.

Skills Assessment Process Summary


Step 1: Pre-Assessment

Submit your documentary evidence via WeTransfer to skills.assessment@angliss.edu.au for the Pre-assessment to evaluate your eligibility and identify any gaps in your skills, knowledge and experience you need to address before applying.


Step 2: Invitation to Apply and Documentary Evidence Assessment

If eligible, you will be invited to apply for your Skills assessment with William Angliss Institute. You will need to submit the WAI Online Application form and all required 'decision-ready' documents for your Documentary Evidence Assessment. You will also need to pay your Documentary Evidence Assessment Fees directly to TRA via the TRA Online Portal.

To pass your Evidence Assessment, your documentary evidence submitted must verify and sufficiently demonstrate that you have the required skills and experience relevant to your nominated occupation.


Step 3: Technical Interview

If you pass the Evidence Assessment, we will then invite you to proceed to the Technical Interview. You will also need to pay your Technical Interview Fees directly to TRA via the TRA Online Portal.

The Technical Interview is an in-depth assessment of your skills, knowledge and experience to ensure you meet the competency requirements for you to work in your nominated occupation in Australia.


Step 4: Skills Assessment Outcome

After the Technical Interview is conducted, Angliss will submit the assessment report on to Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) for their final decision on the outcome.

Successful applicants will be notified and issued with the TRA Skills Assessment Outcome Letter by WAI. Pathway 1 applicants will also receive an award certificate from William Angliss Institute.
