The WDA is developing a Continuing Education and Training (CET) infrastructure under the CET Master plan, announced by the Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in February 2008 which aims to strengthen the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system as a national credentialing system for skills. WSQ is relevant to and recognised by industry, embraces adult learning principles, and provides means and pathways to help all workers learn for life, and advance with skills.
The WDA appointed William Angliss Institute to set up an integrated CET Centre to deliver training for the Tourism industry as well as to conduct national skills assessment for existing Tourism workers. It is the intention of WDA to collaborate with Angliss to build the Centre into a leading Tourism training institute for Singaporeans, where learning is shaped by knowledge, skills and attitudes. The values, expertise and experience built up since 1940 and as a designated Specialist Centre in Victoria, Australia, in addition to solid partnerships across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, enable the Institute to offer WDA a powerful partnership in achieving this goal.
